Logitech G502 hero review

Logitech’s G502 mouse has been a fan favorite for many gamers worldwide, ever since it released all the way back in 2014. In hardware terms, that’s eons ago compared to the advancements happening from its competitors in steelseries, razer and zowie, which meant we were in for a new mouse from logitech equalling the rivals for the steelseries 600, which launched as an upgrade to the steelseries sensei raw (which was considered a rival for the original g502 proteus spectrum). Personally, i had my fingers crossed for a wireless version that would work in combination with the Logitech’s Powerplay Mousepad from last year (hoping it would finally launch in india), but we weren’t as lucky as i had hoped for.

The new g502 is dubbed as G502 Hero”(High Efficiency Rated Optical Sensor) weighs 121g, as it feels much lighter when you’re moving it around the mouse mat. The new flagship HERO sensor from logitech matches the PWM3366 sensor, used in the G403, which boasts of pinpoint accuracy upto 12000 dpi has been further refined to boast upto 16000 dpi. Like its rivals, the Steelseries Rival 600 or the Zowie EC2, it has a way to make it even more customisable, if you wish, as both it and the regular G502 come with a little box of five 3.6g weights that can be slotted into the base of the mouse beneath its magnetic clip-on cover, giving you an additional 18g to play with in total.

Also, the G502 sports a thinner and more flexible braided cable so that it doesn’t pinch or kink the cable like it’s predecessor. Following in the G502 Proteus Spectrum’s footsteps, it has 11 programmable buttons and another button has been dedicated on the bottom to avoid unintentional DPI shifts in-game.

This mouse has been designed keeping in mind about the right handed users. There’s a rubberized concave groove for the thumb on the left hand side beneath 2 easily accessible side buttons, with a the same material covering the slightly convex right side, which has place to rest your little finger. All in all, the mouse is extremely comfortable for a casual fingertip grip or a smothering palm grip on a daily basis.

Given the G502’s almost perfect proportionality, a dash of RGB lighting, and being an award winning, best selling mouse of it’s time, the G502 is back with a enhanced version of itself being worth the extra Rs 500 being spent on it more than its predecessor, coming at a price point of near about Rs 4,900. The few small tweaks and the guaranteed 50 million clicks made all the difference in the gaming community, making the G502 give its rivals a run for their money.
